Important Considerations
Confidential and therapy?
Communication between the client and the psychotherapist are confidential and cannot be disclosed without the client’s written permission.

****However, confidentiality can be breached when:
In the case of suspected child abuse or elder abuse, I, as your therapist, am required by law to report this information to the appropriate authorities, immediately.

I am obligated to report when a client is threatening serious bodily harm or injury to another person. I have a “duty to warn” in other words, call the police and report.

I am also obligated by law to ensure the safety of a client that intends to harm him or herself.

As in reporting suspected child or elder abuse, I take this responsibility seriously and will do everything in my power to protect the client and others.
This protection also includes calling emergency services, family or friends, if necessary.

"Sometimes, reaching out and
taking someone's hand is the beginning of a journey. At other times, it is allowing
another to take yours.”
